Stuck In Static
This motion poster is meant to depict the feeling of being unable to do anything, otherwise known as executive dysfunction. This trait is often found in people with ADHD, and causes many difficulties when trying to complete work. This is exacerbated by the fact that many adults don’t know how to teach children with executive dysfunction, and will often add stress to the child until they are forced to do the task. This creates a bad habit for that child where the only way they feel they can do their work is to be under an immense amount of pressure, causing the image that they are procrastinators.
Texture is Taste
For many people with autism, the taste is not the most important factor when it comes to food, texture is just as important. The sharp crunch of a chip, the gooey softness of mash potatoes, or the slimy feel of noodles can all be turn offs for those who have elevated sensitivity when it comes to mouth feel. Autistics are often mistaken for picky eaters, when in actuality, forcing themselves to eat the food is akin to physical torture.
The colors were purposefully chosen to look gross when paired together, to give off that slimy yet crunch feeling.
Too Loud
Many people on the neurodivergent scale have auditory issues, and there are many of them. The most common of these is auditory hypersensitivity, where they have issues being in loud, crowded environments. Those with AH often take in too much information, and so when in these situations, they can hear every conversation around them. This often leads to the person in question becoming overstimulated and can lead to a meltdown.
